Brand new 2016 Honda Civic Touring Sedan. Two days after purchase the navigation system (GPS) started having problems:- either not being able to acquire (connect to) satellites- car symbol wiggling all over the map- navigation system showing your location completely wrong, sometimes by a mile- navigation system rebooting itself while driving
After a couple of days I contacted both Honda Customer Service and the dealership (Honda Cars of Aiken) I bought it from. Although it was a brand new car, in the beginning they refused to provide a replacement car while they worked on mine: in the end that was solved.- First repair: the dealership 'reset' the navigation system. The same day it started having the same issues.- Second repair: they kept the car for a full week and drove it 200+ miles to 'verify' the problem although I provided them with short videos of the issue. Dealership said they replaced the navigation system. Less than 48 hours after I picked up the 'repaired' car it started having exactly the same issues.- Third repair: again the dealership kept the car for one week and again they drove it for 160+ miles. This time I was told they replaced the antenna. The very next day after I picked up the 'repaired' car it was having all the same issues. On top of that, trying to minimize the navigation system showing the wrong location, they calibrated the system where the car's location was always about 100' off.
Since December 22nd I've been contacting both Honda USA Customer Service and the dealership reporting that the car has the same issues. Honda Customer Service doesn't even respond to my phone messages anymore.
These continuous navigation system issues represent a very serious safety problem: when driving in an unknown environment with small streets and lots of traffic, when driving at night and you depend on that information to make the right turn or take the correct exit, the difference between the navigation system working correctly or not could be the difference between life and death.
I intend to have the car repaired on last time: if this does not solve the problem I will seek legal advise and go from there.
